Don't worry—charging an electric car is much simpler than it looks! Depending on your location, you can start charging either via the app or with a physical card.

📱 Digital Charging

Available in: France, Italy (Milan), the Netherlands, and Germany (Berlin & Rhineland).

No cards needed—just your smartphone!

1. Locate a partner station directly in the app.
2. Activate the charging pole by entering the number into the app to unlock it.
3. Grab the cable from the trunk (unless the station has its own).
4. Plug the cable into the station first, then into the car.
5. Confirm in the app to begin the session.

🅿️ Charging in Madrid (Hubs)

 

• At Free2move Hubs in Madrid: Charging is completely free at our dedicated Madrid charging hubs. No charging card needed! Follow the charging instructions displayed directly on each charging point.
  
  
  
• Outside Madrid: When driving outside our Home Area, you can charge at external stations and get reimbursed!
  
  
  • Find a station with an integrated cable: Use external apps like Electromaps, Iberdrola, Endesa, or Wenea to locate nearby charging points that have cables attached (our cars do not come with charging cables). Download the operator's app to use their station.
    
    
  • How to charge: Use the cable attached to the charging point. Our cars support two connector types, but we recommend using the CCS Combo connector for fast charging (up to 100kW for Peugeot e-208; up to 80kW for Fiat 500e).
    
    
  • Charging times & range: Charging time at 100kW is ~30 min, at 50kW is ~1h, and at 22kW is ~2.5h. The approximate range at 100% state of charge is 250 km.
    
    
  • Get reimbursed: Pay for the session upfront, keep a copy of your invoice/receipt, and email it to us for a full refund!

💳 Charging via Card

Available in: Germany (Hamburg & Stuttgart).

1. Locate a partner station directly in the app.
2. Get the card: You’ll find the charging card in the glove compartment or armrest.
3. Tap the card on the station's reader to activate it.
4. Grab the cable from the trunk (unless the station has its own).
5. Plug the cable into the station first, then the car.
6. Double-check that the car's dashboard or the station indicates "Charging."
7. End your trip in the app. It's that easy!

💡 Charging Credit

Earn up to €10 in credit by charging cars with low battery levels! Before you start, be sure to check the specific requirements directly in the app for cars marked with a yellow charging socket. Remember to only end your rental after the car is plugged in!

Important: Charging is free at all partner stations. If you use an unapproved station, you must pay upfront. Keep the original receipt and send it to us for reimbursement.
